about

Continuing into the next chapter on their journey to showcase some of the finest upcoming talent in the world of drum & bass, Hospital Records are excited to announce the second instalment of their new ‘Future Symptoms’ VA EP series. Volume 2 is a reflection of the A&R team’s efforts to find the sounds of tomorrow, with the release being headed up by Stay-C, Disrupta, Lally & Aaliyah Esprit and Imo-Lu.

Lally & Aaliyah Esprit kick things off with ‘Hustlin’’, a soul-driven liquid funk stepper composed of elegant R&B vocals, warming pianos and crisp drum breaks. With Lally making his debut release on Soulvent Records earlier this year, and Aaliyah Esprit claiming a number of accolades including being selected as a pupil for Giles Peterson’s ‘Future Bubblers’ programme as well as a string of singles, this is a combination of two sounds that intertwine to perfection.

Multi-talented heat supplier Stay-C is flying the flag for the South African drum & bass family with ‘Russian Doll’. Based out of Johannesburg, Hospital Records’ former Women In Drum & Bass mentee Stay-C is no stranger to laying down a cold cut banger. With an official remix for Nu:Logic’s ‘New Technique’ under her belt on the ‘H25PITAL’ compilation, her latest body of work matches up to be just as tough.

Sharp up-and-comer Disrupta brings the energy on ‘Like The Sun’ as he meticulously combines iconic dance music sounds with the new generation of drum & bass. Expect euphoric Korg M1 style synths, punchy drums and a dreamy vocal sample. With releases on Liquid V, Born On Road and Bingo Bass to name a few, Disrupta is paving the way for the sounds of tomorrow with collaborations alongside fellow new blood including Jappa, Teej, Sl8r and Duskee.

Dividing her time between drum & bass and ballet accompaniment, classically trained pianist and skilled music producer imo-Lu offers an uplifting key-driven ballad where her musicality shines through brightly. Carving out a name for herself with appearances on the Hospital Records Rinse FM show, a collaboration with Kharm and a healthy supply of self-releases on her Soundcloud, imo-Lu is one to watch - no questions asked.

The sounds of tomorrow are looking stronger than ever. Don’t sleep on these names, and be sure to keep an eye out for the coming instalments of Hospital Records’ new ‘Future Symptoms’ series - these are the next generation.
