about

Having released his self-titled debut EP on Hospital late last year, Other Echoes returns to airwaves, headphones and dancefloors once again in summer 2013 with the “Run And Hide” EP.
This next venture sees Nick Gresham expertly traverse the genre boundaries, joining the dots between broken beat, future garage, deep house and shimmering electronica to form an accessible and cohesive whole that will be appreciated by music fans from across the board.

The title track of this epic seven song EP is “Run And Hide”, the first of two tracks featuring BBC introducing “artist to watch” Lea Lea. Having written with artists on Defjam, RCA, True Thoughts, and with her debut EP dropping on the UKs WahWah45s label, a collaborative partnership here with Other Echoes makes perfect sense for the self proclaimed “queen of dark electronic soul”.

Guaranteed to put a smile on your face. “Be Happy” is up next with its good-time, undulating bassline. Featuring finely chopped vocals and hazy synths it's the sonic equivalent of an iced coffee on a hot summer day.

First step drops the pulse drop down with some wonky chords and solid sub bass rumbles before Lea Lea returns in fine form to up the tempo with the outstanding 4 4 offering “Never Know”. Timeless soul songwriting and a spine chilling vocal performance wrapped up with the kind of future thinking house music production that is gets the most fashionable dancefloors hot under the collar.

The more stripped back “Planets” is up next, before another collaborative effort this time with producer Ben Knight, and featuring the vocals of Rachel Rose. “Can’t Help” has an uplifting, hypnotic groove. Classic 2-step and UKG influences are present here, again with a contemporary edge.

The EP closes with the moody, contemplative tones of “Tides For Them”, a seven minute synth opus which builds from ambient soundscapes into a pulsing bassline driven monster with sidechained synths and devious harmonic twists.
